Today the Department for Transport (DfT) has published its ‘Taxi & Private Hire Vehicle Statistics, England: 2023‘. These statistics cover licensed taxis, private hire vehicles, drivers and operators in England as at 1st April 2023. Such data can offer an invaluable overview of the national, and regional, status of the respective trades.

Today the Government laid before Parliament the draft ‘Public Charge Point Regulations 2023‘.  These are focused on requirements addressing the experience of customers regarding, amongst others, payments and pricing.

Today the Welsh Government launched its ‘Taxi & Private Hire Vehicle (Wales) Bill: White Paper‘ consultation.  It seeks views on proposals for legislation to modernise the taxi and private hire sectors and address cross-bordering issues.  The consultation closes on 1st June 2023.

Today the Transport for London launched its ‘Improving Safety for Taxi & PHV Passengers‘ consultation.  It seeks views on 19 proposals, which follow the Department for Transport’s ‘Statutory Taxi & Private Hire Vehicle Standards‘, for improving “…safety and safeguarding for all passengers, especially children and vulnerable adults…“.
