High Court on Uber Decision

Today the High Court handed down its judgement in R (United Cabbies Group (London) Ltd) v Westminster Magistrates Court et al [2019] EWHC 409 (Admin).The case concerned a judicial review challenge against a Chief Magistrate decision, in Westminster Magistrates Court, to grant a 15-month private hire operator licence to Uber London Limited. It was based on two grounds; (1) “…the decision is tainted by actual or apparent bias…” and (2) “…the judge acted ultra vires…”.  Ultimately, in giving judgement, the claim was dismissed.
