MP Questions TfL Driver Policy

Today Jon Cruddas MP wrote to the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to raise concerns about Transport for London’s (TfL) ‘Taxi & Private Hire Driver Policy‘.  His particular concerns, as expressed from the hackney carriage trade perspective, centre on the introduction of a new penalty points system within the policy.  The new requirements, which were updated on 28th March 2022, were first introduced on 20th December 2021 with, it is asserted, little or no public consultation. It is unclear whether the Mayor has, as yet, responded but it is certainly noteworthy that Mr Cruddas raises some serious questions about the validity of the policy.  We will, of course, provide updates on developments.
