DfT on Project Restart

Today the Department for Transport (DfT) issued a letter entitled ‘Taxi & PHV Licensing – Supporting The Sector & School Return’ to licensing authorities.  It details concerns about the “…shortage of supply…” within the sector caused by “…licensing authorities put[ting] new applications on hold in order to focus on dealing with renewal applications…”.  The DfT, in speaking directly to licensing authorities, “…urge[s] you to urgently identify solutions that will enable you to resume this service to ensure that you can fulfil your statutory licensing function…”.
