Adam Smith Institute Report

Today the Adam Smith Institute published a report entitled ‘A Fare Shake – Reforming Taxis for the 21st Century‘.  It is focussed on areas for regulatory reform which may address issues arising from the cost of living crisis, car market inflation and pollution. Recommendations include (1) a single tier of licensing, (2) removal of knowledge / topographical tests, (3) reduction of surplus regulation and, amongst others, (4) encouragement to transfer to electric vehicles.  The report, it is understood, will be passed to Government for consideration.
