Supreme Court: Hopcraft

Today the Supreme Court handed down its judgement in Hopcraft & Others v Close Brothers Limited [2025] UKSC 33.  It concerned the payment of commissions, unknown to the consumer, by third-party financial lenders to motor dealers under hire purchase agreements.  The court concluded the motor dealers were not subject to any fiduciary duty to the consumer.  It found, largely, in favour of the appeal.
