Public Office (Accountability) Bill

Today the Government introduced to the House of Commons its Public Office (Accountability) Bill.  It seeks to impose a duty on public authorities, and officials, to act with candour, transparency and frankness.  This will apply across inquiries and investigations with any failure constituting an offence of misconduct. Following completion of its 1st reading, the Bill will now move to a 2nd reading in the House.
