TfL Updates Driver Requirements

Today Transport for London (TfL) issued ‘Changes to Private Hire Driver Licensing Requirements’ Notice 14/21. It incorporates changes to (a) the English Language Requirement (ELR) and adopts a new measure of (b) a Safety, Equality & Regulatory Understanding (SERU) Requirement whilst confirming, amongst others, introduction of (c) the Safeguarding Awareness Course (as detailed in TfL Notice 13/21). A new ‘Private Hire Vehicle Driver’s Handbook’ has also been published to assist licence-holders and applicants. These provisions take immediate effect from 1st October 2021.
